Since you're my neighbor....

If you remember a week or so ago we were wondering about Sufjan living in the hood. We got a cryptic reply from asthmatic kitty letting us know the 'director' said we could link to SS on the site. We've decided it's fine to blast him w the rest of the locals on up and coming work.

From Gothamist via Brooklyn Vegan: Sufjan will play a special series of shows at BAM this November at the Next Wave Festival titled "The BQE". The show will combine Sufjan live, playing both old and new material, with a live orchestra and video projections displaying a "virtual road trip." BAM's 25th Next Wave Festival November 1, 2 and 3rd ='s Sufjan . SUFJAN CONCEPTUALIZES THE BROOKLYN-QUEENS EXPRESSWAY.

On a side note we found this little clip of SS on the hood....
Now I'm in Kensington. It's kind of like the suburbs of Brooklyn . It's quiet and it's not cool at all, which I like. But it's a short bike ride to all the cool neighborhoods. It's cheap. It's like the last affordable neighborhood where you can buy stuff. There are houses with driveways, which is unusual here. And it's really diverse. There's no dominant culture there. A lot of Jewish families, Chinese Americans, Polish, Russians. It doesn't seem like anyone is entitled to that neighborhood. It's just mixed.

Sufjan, Are You My Neighbor?

We saw this today Bklyn Rockers Add Some Orchestral Touches (Brooklyn Record) which reminded us of an article we read in Harp on Sufjan from Aug 2006. It noted there that Sufjan is a resident of these parts and in Wikipedia that Asthmatic Kitty Records is outta Kensington (mailing address is in WY). Sufjan if you're reading this, and we know you're real busy right now, we're wondering... are you still here? If so, can we link to you in our links section?

For all others (like us) who'd actually just like some info on upcoming dates for The National (or the National myspace link) here ya go... Five nights (count 'em, 5/28 - 6/1) at the Bowery Ballroom.

Ballin’ The Jack

What can we say besides, wow! Only wish things like this happened more around these parts. I'm envisioning our own concerts in the park at Greenwood Playground/ Ball Field this summer... You think we could convince some of our neighborhood musicians to play a few?
