Currently, seeing a resurgence of young apartment and home buyers. Residents should use this blog as a forum to discuss and contribute to local businesses and improvements.Kensingtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16761085451416024069noreply@blogger.comBlogger1433125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7778316673866838520.post-7183093149583283412021-12-20T05:36:00.001-05:002021-12-20T05:36:00.201-05:00Getting Outdoors over the Holidays<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1zaxVE2Kejs2XybhHICvEoptzCHznx-I5rek3fhWHylzy8G6SwIbALGI6FM7R74KnDRMy5hs1Xlv5lOTs_iVhr_x1THDtpJ7HohHr81CM6G0nkPPw2howtvV5uy-E3ng7n1ogN5QCGVc/s960/hiking.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="960" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1zaxVE2Kejs2XybhHICvEoptzCHznx-I5rek3fhWHylzy8G6SwIbALGI6FM7R74KnDRMy5hs1Xlv5lOTs_iVhr_x1THDtpJ7HohHr81CM6G0nkPPw2howtvV5uy-E3ng7n1ogN5QCGVc/s320/hiking.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />We have all
spent so much time indoors over the last nearly two years and yes indeed, when
it gets cold it is so tempting to stay huddled up inside. But it’s important to venture out for many
reasons and what better time to do it than over Christmas when we are usually
over-indulging in festive foods. So,
herewith a few local and close-by events to get you moving through the holiday
season.<p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">First up,
on Christmas Day itself, there is the <b>Winter Wonderland </b>Hike. From 1pm
to 2 30 this is the perfect time to get moving!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Shake it up a bit this year with a light Christmas lunch, a hike in
Manhattan’s Fort Tyron Park, and then back home to sit by the fire with family
and friends.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>On this tour the park’s
natural beauty will be revealed to you as you hike with the </span><span lang="en-IL">Urban Park Rangers. </span><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">You’ll get to see tracks animals have<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>made, nests created by birds and beautiful age-old trees that remain in
the area. It’s really a case of getting back to basics and enjoying the
outdoors as nature intended. And it makes Christmas day a whole lot healthier!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">For
something a bit closer to home, there is the <b>Canarsie Park Holiday Hike</b>
which takes place right here.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Located on
East 88th Street and Seaview Avenue, the park spans 132 acres and is
on the Jamaican Bay’s western shore, known for its migratory birds. Learn more
about it on the hike which is also led by the Urban Park Rangers and also takes
place on Christmas Day between 1 and 2.30pm.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>another great choice for avoiding all that ham and mashed potatoes!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">For those not
interested in a<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>hike, there is the
incredible <b>December Lights Tour</b>, featuring more than 20 Brooklyn Park
homes that have incredible holiday light displays. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">But
whatever you end up doing this Christmas, make it light, make it festive and
shine your aura bright!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>

involved in the photography world and then developed an interest in diamonds,
Mozes Victor Konig is probably quite a good resource for someone familiar in
engagement photoshoots.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Today, he gives
tips from his personal experience on best places in and around Brooklyn to show
off that sparkly rock.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">“Given that
New York is way too often regarded as a cold, concrete jungle, it’s quite
shocking just how many amazing, beautiful, green and relaxing recreational
areas there are,” begins Mozes Victor Konig.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>“When I first got to New York I really thought I would have to just deal
with the coldness of the place, but it’s a reputation that it has earned that I
don’t believe it deserves,” he added.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Konig isn’t
the only one who feels this way.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Prospect Park gets rave reviews on and – on entering the oasis – it’s
not surprising to see why.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Imagine how
wonderful it would be to tell your girlfriend that you want to go for a stroll
in Prospect Park, ride a bike or enjoy a picnic and then you bring out a
beautiful diamond engagement ring!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">After that
you can set up a selfie stick or hire a photographer to take pictures of the
glow that you will hopefully both feel.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>A diamond in a setting as perfect as that really cannot get any more
idyllic!<o:p></o:p></span></p>Kensingtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16761085451416024069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7778316673866838520.post-10757689376988993522021-09-28T08:20:00.002-04:002021-09-28T08:20:00.230-04:00Local Festivals<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIF0Zw1cya4j9hN6koYVn2hnV29jciwKUwoDGA0vf0LcgEkRf2I_pfzqqW3WnimcA_gqa4KmFlhUPGeDyW7MM_GIMtieF-6uy5AsuqmxBT-PSrHB7L8SnRfgfbsTFTxHvTLJWYG5Y3kD0/s960/bagelfest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="578" data-original-width="960" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIF0Zw1cya4j9hN6koYVn2hnV29jciwKUwoDGA0vf0LcgEkRf2I_pfzqqW3WnimcA_gqa4KmFlhUPGeDyW7MM_GIMtieF-6uy5AsuqmxBT-PSrHB7L8SnRfgfbsTFTxHvTLJWYG5Y3kD0/s320/bagelfest.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Given the last 18 months have been very lacking in any kind of celebratory
events, it’s perhaps even more exciting to see that festivals are returning.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Here, we take a look at what is going on
locally.</span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">The <b>Brooklyn BagelFest</b> – perhaps the only one of its kind (I
mean, who else has ever heard of a bagel festival?) – begins next Saturday at City
Point, BKLYN Studios. Planned for the daylong event – that takes place from 9:30am-3:30pm
– is bagel-themed games, a musical performance (bagel-themed of course!) as well
as a Who’s Who? Of bagel stores, beer and coffee.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;">Then there is the<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span><b>BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival</b>, a free event for New Yorkers to
celebrate Brooklyn and New York. Every night the festival celebrates a
different genre or culture.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The festival
– which has been going on for over four decades – is a way for all New Yorkers to
appreciate music icons from around the world, with a specific emphasis on jazz
artists, indie bands, dance troupes, and more.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>In addition, a virtual reality performance is staged. And, because of
COVID concerns, a virtual </span><span lang="en-IL" style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><a href="https://www.bricartsmedia.org/bric-celebrate-brooklyn-festival/watch-demand">multi-platform
destination</a> </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;">so that the spirit of the festival can be
brought to people’s homes. The festival started in 1979 as a way of bringing
Brooklyn together.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>What better time to
do this than now, after more than a year of people being stuck in and not
celebrating much at all.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>While indeed it
is virtual, it is still a way to connect people. Around 25,000 people come from
around the New York area.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;">Get out there.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Or
stay home online.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But either way, meet
people, connect, and try to have fun even in these crazy times!<o:p></o:p></span></p>Kensingtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16761085451416024069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7778316673866838520.post-9100203456858880082021-08-21T06:00:00.001-04:002021-08-21T06:00:00.223-04:00Great Summer Reading<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-JloadrwfIOI_UGgSZ3wcMhrs0N56eId_Iw2eysqwfJKpNblmcbW4P40kuwlPYa6NHUpaz2pWb2py4U3xQeKMsVRil7X-WU18HolcKbN3U0BN5VFveaizdInuLnQ5XH-XTplDqcHX0F8/s720/books.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-JloadrwfIOI_UGgSZ3wcMhrs0N56eId_Iw2eysqwfJKpNblmcbW4P40kuwlPYa6NHUpaz2pWb2py4U3xQeKMsVRil7X-WU18HolcKbN3U0BN5VFveaizdInuLnQ5XH-XTplDqcHX0F8/s320/books.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">After your kids have splashed around in a pool, gone on hikes and

officiant), chairs for up to 10 guests (think intimate) and a honeymoon bag which

expectations, cat owners were found to be less mindful than non-owners and pet
interactions did not account for levels of loneliness or levels of mindfulness.
In line with our expectations, however, stress and depression positively
predicted loneliness, while mindfulness and being a dog owner were protective
against it. Insights from qualitative responses suggest that this might be due
to the fact that dogs encourage a routine which involves getting out of the
house and walking, which itself offers opportunities to socialise with other
people doing the same thing…</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">.</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">

fashion retail around the world vis-à-vis brick and mortar stores, there have
been some interesting successes in this area. Up to </span><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/nyregion/nyc-small-businesses-closing-coronavirus.html"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">a third of all NYC businesses </span></a><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>broke

boutique shops have been gaining popularity. The question is, how?<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>One reason is that they are small businesses
owned by individuals rather than large corporations that have way more

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">One local example of this is <b>Page
Sargisson Jewelry</b> which opened its doors in Brooklyn on Hoyt Street and
Atlantic Avenue after Thanksgiving. It’s popular in the area because it’s
“playful and fresh…handcrafted…sustainably-made using recycled gold and
silver,” and thus offers locals something different.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>

Obviously it is important that each household decide for themselves if they can
manage the requirements of a pet but for those who think they can, now really
is the time.</span></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: "Calibri",sans-serif; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin;">It
turns out also that many Windsor Terrace-Kensington facilities (as well as
neighboring ones) are making increased efforts to find homes for dogs, cats

up. Nationwide people have become more
inclined to adopt a pet now; something they kept “putting off until the time

That is obvious from Brooklyn. One just has to take a look at the Brooklyn
Botanic Garden which has been in existence for over a century and spans 52
acres. But botanical gardens need not be
so big actually as Raphael Steinberg of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZevUl4c66R-egC96-L-ENA?view_as=subscriber">Raphael
Steinberg Landscaping</a> has encountered in his work. One of the main criteria for a gardener to
consider in the initial planning is sizing but so much can be done within <i>all</i>
shapes and sizes. It is just a matter of
correct planning. Is the area they have
to work with merely a small patch of a rooftop garden, a large industrial space
or something in between?<p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">What <i>are</i> botanical gardens exactly? The dictionary definition is “an
establishment where plants are grown for display to the public and often for
scientific study.” Education <i>through</i>
experience within a botanical garden setting is a wonderful way for kids (and adults)
to become familiar with greenery and plant life.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">“What I really enjoy when clients request a botanical
garden is the amount of leeway that is available. Such gardens provide so much Zen for the
client, as well as a natural education for those curious enough to ask,” <a href="https://www.facebook.com/raphael.sternberg.7">Raphael
Steinberg</a><span class="MsoHyperlink">
</span>explained.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Botanical gardens are far from new. In fact, they have been
around since about the 16th century.
Initially they were used for medicinal and research purposes. Today though the more common uses are
educational, as a sanctuary and a space to create new plant life. Botanical
gardens are often found in community centers, offering locals the chance to
view stunning ornamental plants arranged in a way which depicts special
relationships. Before a landscape
gardener designs one, they need to be aware of the main purpose of the client. Some ideas include: the preservation of a
collection; an exhibition or a private Zen area.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Whatever you decide to do ultimately, it is important to
consult with a professional landscaper who has had experience in the design,
building and maintenance over some years of a botanical garden and has examples
to show you.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>

Established in 2000, this prize – awarding $200,000 to each winner – is a
“celebration of individuals and ideas to create a better, brighter New
York City.”</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">It was Dr. Suzette Brown – a pediatrician and COO at Strong
Children Wellness and Domingo Morales who learned about composting from his
work at Green City Force – both hailing from Brooklyn who received the grants.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Brown has been working on ways to bolster the
healthcare system and Morales on sustainable composting in disadvantaged communities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">Brown’s organization has been implementing her healthcare system
approach of “reverse integration” which has resulted <a href="https://www.bkreader.com/2020/10/15/two-brooklyn-residents-win-200000-each-for-their-visions-to-make-nyc-a-better-place/">in
the provision of</a> a “one stop shop for kids and families where not only can
they get their physical needs met and their primary health care needs met, but
they can also benefit from a range of social services.” She was inspired to do
this when she worked with a single homeless mom trying to escape her domestic
violent situation without any support. Trying to navigate the social services
system during such a challenging time is close to impossible and with the additional
coronavirus situation, things became even worse.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">Morales has been through the system himself, having grown up in
foster care.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>He is seeking to increase sustainability
in Brooklyn and at the same time, help less advantaged communities. The grant
he receives will be put toward the establishment of composting sites, and the
creation of educational opportunities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>He explained:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"></span></p><blockquote>“For the communities that don’t have the resources to pay, the
idea is to just build them the best compost system that they can have and then
figure out how we can work other forms of sustainability into that site.” </blockquote><o:p></o:p><p></p>Kensingtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16761085451416024069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7778316673866838520.post-87388370763067094712020-11-02T03:36:00.001-05:002020-11-02T03:36:01.533-05:00Escaping at Home<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipQFQ21G4zTsJLnk5Lt_SFxb5H3Re1_MF5TZDp3_a6yrVH_eAwEJNVoSWSb-yTgCiVkT6Yn9Xbc6OKXYpi5nyOipt2HSnLhElskLsZg7oekSeorAx0ZoA3w4GLLM_2ziapLiO65ldwzQw/s1280/library.webp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="851" data-original-width="1280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipQFQ21G4zTsJLnk5Lt_SFxb5H3Re1_MF5TZDp3_a6yrVH_eAwEJNVoSWSb-yTgCiVkT6Yn9Xbc6OKXYpi5nyOipt2HSnLhElskLsZg7oekSeorAx0ZoA3w4GLLM_2ziapLiO65ldwzQw/s320/library.webp" width="320" /></a><span style="font-size: 12pt;">While the coronavirus continues to

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">Thanks to funding from the Greenpoint

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">But meanwhile, thanks to the fantastic

is on offer is phenomenal.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Double in

outdoor space along with a grab-and-go service to limit the spread of the coronavirus.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><a href="https://patch.com/new-york/brooklyn/greenpoint-library-environmental-education-center-opens-public">According

our everyday lives due to COVID-19 and all the restrictions that have come with
it in the fight to flatten the curve. All of this can feel not only
overwhelming but quite depressing due to the effect this has had on important
social behavior.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">So when there are new developments,
they are even more welcome than normal.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>One recent local example of this is the opening of the <b>Kensington Dog
Run</b>. Located at Brooklyn’s Backyard at the Parade Grounds, local dog owners
are very happy with the new area that opened in July.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is particularly good now since there are
so many dog owners in quarantine in the Kensington area (along with Ditmas
Park, Flatbush and Windsor Terrace).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">It’s very nice too.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>There is water on tap and built-in bowls for
the canines a well as dog-friend </span><span style="color: black; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-language: HE; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">astroturf</span><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"> – the first of its kind in an NYC dog
park.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It is a project that has been
several years in the making and is very good for community bolstering.<u><o:p></o:p></u></span></p>Kensingtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16761085451416024069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7778316673866838520.post-87403919295649078782020-08-01T02:21:00.000-04:002020-08-01T02:21:10.627-04:00Walking Through Brooklyn<br />

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">Everyone is facing horrendous challenges from the coronavirus outbreak. Financially it has resulted in severe monetary losses for too many hard working individuals; emotionally <wbr></wbr>single people living alone are facing tremendous obstacles and couples in already unstable relationships are wondering when – or even if – their situation will improve. The elderly –
a demographic already struggling with isolation – are becoming
increasingly anxious and even more cut off from society at large, to
name but a few.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 15.6933px; margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">And then there are our infant daughters and sons;
the toddlers demanding even more attention from their overly-frazzled
parents. Some are “lucky” and are trying to work under unprecedented
conditions; others have lost their jobs and are seeking new employment
in an uncertain economy and have kids who are not in a structured
educational environment anymore. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 15.6933px; margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">In
this article, licensed clinical psychologist, cognitive behavioral
therapist and New York-based yoga instructor <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Dr.-Jayme-Albin/e/B087NHXH76" target="_blank">Dr. Jayme Albin</a> talks about how
yoga has helped her, her infant daughter and her child’s immediate
circle of friends. On how to do this at home, Albin gives the following
tips:</span></div>
</span><blockquote class="tr_bq" style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 15.6933px; margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">“First,
I find that working in small groups – coronavirus restrictions
undertaken – works really well for little kids. I’m talking your infant
daughter and then maybe one or two (maximum) other friends in your
immediate capsule. One-on-one is fine also but I've seen more success
with more than one kid due to the potential for interaction.”</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">“Second,
you want to keep it as simple as possible. Don’t try anything too
difficult. Your main aim is to get them moving, let them enjoy music,
let them do something different and perhaps most important – especially
during COVID-19 times – let them giggle. It’s less of a priority to get
them to become yoga masters!”</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">“Third,
find a simple online video to learn the most basic yoga poses for
children. After that it should be much easier to figure out your own
workout routine, based on what works best for your small group.” </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">“Fourth,
smile! I so often see yoga instructors who look downtrodden. The
power of yoga is often behind the instructor’s attitude. Make sure
yours is a happy one! Good luck!”</span></blockquote>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 15.6933px; margin: 0cm 0cm 8pt;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">While Jayme Albin got her training in Kundalini </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 17.1200008392334px;">Yoga,
she specifies that when it comes to working with kids – or in fact
anyone new to yoga – a lot of it is trial and error; you have to see
what works best for your audience.</span></div>
